Visa Application

An invitation letter to be used for your visa application can be obtained after completing the Congress registration. You must apply for your visa as soon you are confident that you will attend ESCMID Global (formerly known as ECCMID) in Barcelona (in some countries, this process can take up to 3-4 months). In addition, ESCMID is working with the city of Barcelona to facilitate the visa application process.

Further information on the application process can be found here:

Additional documents to support your visa application can be found below:

Declaration of the Venue

Important:  During visa application please include your Congress registration receipt.

Otherwise the «Declaration of the Venue» is not valid.

To ensure a smooth visa application process:

Complete the necessary procedures at the consulate corresponding to your location.

Clearly indicate that the visa is intended for attending the ESCMID Global (formerly known as ECCMID) Congress in Barcelona, specifying the relevant dates.

In case of rejection:

In the unfortunate event of a visa rejection, it's important to note that we have established connections with the city of Barcelona and the Deputy General Directorate of Consular Affairs, the official organizations overseeing visa matters. If your visa application is denied, please reach out to us by providing your full name and visa reference number via email at Info[at]escmid.org

Kindly be aware that this assistance is specifically applicable to individuals applying for an official spanish visa or spanish schengen visa. The organization will try to facilitate as much as possible. Reasons for denial however can’t be shared.

Invited speakers, faculty, grantees and accepted abstract presenters who need a specialised visa letter and follow-up contact with the embassies, please contact us by email to eccmidinfo[at]escmid.org
